Serenade Choral Festival comes to Annapolis!
Saturday, June 30, 7:30 p.m. at St. Anne’s Church – FREE
On June 30, singers from Boston to the Czech Republic will converge on St. Anne’s for a free concert of culture and music at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to experience the musical culture of the countries represented by the singers.
This amazing gathering of singers offers everything-European, jazz, Latin, folk and a cappella. Appearing will be four choirs of youth and adult singers:
Verata e Liberi from Colombia, led by Sandra Rodriguez, is one of the leading children’s choruses in Colombia, the chorus has developed different genres and styles as well as a repertoire in 8 different languages. The chorus has participated in many national and international chorus festivals earning a number of highly regarded distinctions. Verata e Liberi also participated in many UNICEF “Singing with the Children” concerts and has performed several major choral works.
Countermeasure from Canada is Toronto’s hottest new a cappella vocal group, fast becoming known for their upbeat sound, sophisticatedharmonies, and infectious energy. Led by award-winning composer/arranger Aaron Jensen, and featuring some of Canada’s top young vocal talent, Countermeasure delivers a magical and memorable musical experience that has earned the group critical and public acclaim. Countermeasures’ music is ambitious and innovative with songs ranging from Pop to Jazz, from Classical to World.
Zvonky-Praha from the Czech Republic is one of the finest children’s choirs in the Czech Republic. The choir has won many accolades. Highlights include first prize in the pennant series at the 50th International Music Festival, a performance for the Queen of Belgium, four gold medals at the 35th International Festival and Choir Competition at Olomouc, a performance for the Czech President and First Lady, recorded 8 CD’s, along with many other accomplishments. The choir is conducted by Jarmila Novenková.
Boston City Singers, Boston Massachusetts, conducted by Jane Money, has collaborated with many outstanding Boston-area orchestras and choirs, including Boston Pops, Zamir Chorale, Yale Alumni Chorus, Boston Classical Orchestra, Saengerfest Men’s Chorus, Discovery Ensemble, and Firebird Ensemble, as well as Broadway productions, dance companies and rock bands. The choir is very active in hosting international choirs and also touring on their own, with the goal of sharing the gift of song whilst developing strong understandings of different cultures.
