The Washington Symphonic Brass honors the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Tuesday, January 19, at 7:30 p.m. at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. The centerpiece of the concert is the Annapolis premiere of Joseph Schwantner’s “New Morning for the World,” which includes narration selected from Dr. King’s writings, addresses, and speeches that will be read by Dr. Bill Ray, world renowned opera singer, music educator and recent Annie Award winner. The piece bears witness to the continuing influence and nobility of Dr. King’s ideas, principles, and beliefs. The concert continues with the music of Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Scott Joplin and Wynton Marsalis.
