Ernie takes you behind the scenes for a peak at this weekend’s music!

For two evenings, St. Anne’s Church will be filled with some of the most powerfully moving music ever written for chorus: Sergei Rachmaninoff’s All Night Vigil (Vespers).  This immense work takes you on a musical journey, from the opening call to worship through the proclamation of the Resurrection that will move you and touch your soul.

J. Ernest Green will conduct the Annapolis Chorale and guest soloists Madeleine Gray and David Merrill for two performances of the Vespers.  Before the Chorale sings, he will talk to the audience about Vespers with his signature combination of enthusiasm and an amazing ability to get to the heart of musical works and a way everyone understands.  The audience will also be able to see translations and images related to the music on two large screens.

This is the perfect piece to experience this time of year as we approach Holy Week and Easter.
