Live Arts Maryland’s women’s ensemble, Cantori, takes a musical tour through the hits that boosted spirits and lifted hearts during the World War years with Sentimental Journey on Monday, July 18, at 7:30 p.m. in Decker Concert Hall located in the Gibson Center for the Arts on the campus of Washington College in Chestertown, MD.
The concert, part of the Encore Summer Choral Institutes, is free and open to the public.
The group, made up of members of the Annapolis Chorale, will perform hits by Irving Berlin (Always), the Gershwins (Embraceable You), Cole Porter (Every Time We Say Goodbye) and songs made famous by the Andrews Sisters, Bing Crosby and many more. Have a favorite from that era? You’ll probably hear it at this concert. The program has a USO theme and will include a salute to the Armed Forces.
Cantori was formed in 2011 and has performed extensively throughout the area at private and public events and with the Annapolis Chorale and Annapolis Chamber Orchestra. The group’s conductor is Laurie J. Hays.
