Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts

The Annapolis Chorale and Annapolis Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Music Director J. Ernest Green, kick off the 2017-2018 season celebrating songs everyone can sing by the giants of the American songbook.  Generations of composers have created a musical tapestry that is as alive and fresh today as it was when the ink was still not dry.  The music of Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Richard Rodgers, Jerome Kern and others are featured in this concert of music that can really be called “timeless classics.”

An Anthem for Humanity:  Brahms – Ein deutsches Requiem
(A German Requiem)

November 11, 8 p.m. One night only!
at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts

J. Ernest Green conducts The Annapolis Chorale and Annapolis Chamber Orchestra in a performance of Johannes Brahms German Requiem.   When Brahms composed this moving work, he could not have known the deep personal and social impact it would have on those who heard it.  The beauty of the words and music alone conveys comfort in the face of loss, but more than that, they connect us to each other though our shared humanity.   Says Mr. Green, “Our patrons ask us to do this piece every season and it’s a favorite of both our audience and our singers.”

All students are invited to attend this concert FREE!
