The Annapolis Chorale and Annapolis Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Music Director J. Ernest Green, kick off the 2017-2018 season celebrating songs everyone can sing by the giants of the American songbook.
Generations of composers have created a musical tapestry that is as alive and fresh today as it was when the ink was still not dry. The music of Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Richard Rodgers, Jerome Kern and others are featured in this concert of music that can really be called “timeless classics.”
“America’s Pianist,” Kevin Cole, joins Live Arts Maryland for this performance. With a particular flair and affinity for the music of George Gershwin, it’s been said of him, “When Cole sits down at the piano, you would swear Gershwin himself was at work… Cole stands as the best Gershwin pianist in America today.” (Howard Reich, arts critic for the Chicago Tribune)
